Carmen Williams
Carmen Williams, MD, PhD is a Senior Investigator and Deputy Chief of the Reproductive & Developmental Biology Laboratory at the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences. She trained and practiced clinically as an Ob/Gyn and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility physician scientist at the University of Pennsylvania. She then switched her career path away from the clinic to ask basic science questions about the mechanisms underlying the establishment of pregnancy. Her lab focuses on how developmental estrogenic chemical exposures impact female reproductive tract function and cancer development, and how calcium signaling following fertilization affects embryo development and impacts offspring health.
