Jacob Qi
A/Prof Jacob (Yanfei) Qi is a national leader in lipid research and Head of Cardio-Metabolic Lipidology and Lipidomics Laboratory at Heart Research Institute. He has established a pioneering research program defining the roles of lipids in the pathogenesis, treatment, and risk assessment of age-related diseases, including diabetes, obesity, fatty liver, and cardiovascular disease. His work has advanced fundamental understanding of intracellular lipid storage and transport and is now focused on lipid physiology and AI-powered lipidomic biomarker discovery. His original research has been published in leading journals including PNAS, Mol Cell, Cell Rep, Am J Clin Nutr, Adv Sci, Autophagy and J Transl Med. This is well funded by NHMRC, ARC, NSW Health, Centenary Future Leader Fellowship and Salteri/Kellerman Fellowship.
In addition, Jacob is a founding board member of Australian Lipid Network and the President of Australian Association of Chinese Biomedical Scientists (334 members).
