Shanal Kumar
Dr Shanal Kumar is an adult endocrinologist at The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) where she leads the Cystic Fibrosis Endocrine Service. She is also a Staff Specialist at the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital in Brisbane, Australia and Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer at The University of Queensland. Her PhD on endocrine and metabolic complications in adults with cystic fibrosis led to the co-designed CF Endocrine service at TPCH which provides i) diabetes support with specific interest in diabetes technology ii) metabolic and cardiovascular health optimisation iii) bone fracture prevention and iv) reproductive and sexual health services for both women and men across the lifespan. Her experience in clinical and qualitative research, implementation science, innovative models-of-care and consumer/community involvement ensures her research priorities are aligned with end-users facilitating rapid translation and impact.
